StratosSphere is written by Stratos Laspas.

Welcome to my personal website. My name is Stratos Laspas, and for many years I have worked as a business consultant and independent researcher. My career brings together strategic management, the analysis of complex data, and the study of the international trends shaping the present.

I have spent most of my career in banks and wealth management firms, in roles spanning the coordination of operations, the design of procedures and the optimization of processes. I have worked as an operations manager, as an internal auditor for the MiFID area (investment services) with the CISA certification (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and as a compliance officer; I have also served as Anti-Money Laundering Reporting Officer (AMLRO) and Data Protection Officer (DPO). That experience taught me to keep both the big picture and the detail in view at once, and to find solutions for problems that have not appeared yet.

This path brought me close to European institutions and academic bodies. For the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) I have prepared detailed research reports on international developments in science, research, and innovation, and I have also worked with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Finland. Through these collaborations I had the chance to study, at close range, the modern systems and technologies that affect society and daily life directly.

After a period of creative pause, I am returning to writing. This website (laspas.gr) is meant to be a living space for the exchange of ideas, for critical thinking, and for analysis. My writing moves around four large and connected themes:

Technology and artificial intelligence (AI): The fast progress of large language models and their integration into more and more digital services are reshaping our business, legal, and social fabric. Here I look at the most recent technological trends and their effect on the future of work.

Health and life sciences: The meeting of technological progress with medical science opens possibilities we have not seen before. From modern biomedical applications to better quality of life and wellbeing, health sits at the centre of my interest.

Language and communication: Language is the primary tool of thought, and now the code that bridges the human mind with the machine. I look at how new forms of communication change the way we understand the world.

Economy, governance, and trust: Behind every transaction and every digital service there are rules, controls, and the protection of our data. Drawing on my experience in finance, I look at how the economy, regulation, and the handling of personal data shape the trust between people and institutions.

For me, writing is not a plain listing of facts but an attempt to make sense of the changes that are coming and to prepare for the future. I invite you to come along on this journey, to share your own views, and to build a useful and honest dialogue together.
